UPT ICT and ICON+ Coordination Meeting regarding Optimizing Undiksha’s IS/IT Access

Overcoming disruptions to the University of Education’s internet connection and bandwidth in the last few days, on Friday (18/12), at the UPT ICT Vicon Room a meeting was held between the UPT ICT Team and the ICON+ Internet Provider.

The activity started at 14.00 WITA, with the Head of UPT ICT, Secretary, Head of Subdivision of UPT ICT, Head of SI and Programmer Division, Head of Network Division and members, Server Team, UPT ICT Helpdesk members, as well as representatives of EOS ICON. Starting the activity, the Head of UPT ICT delivered a resume regarding the problems being experienced.

“In the last few days, the internet connection in Undiksha has experienced problems. This causes several applications on e-Ganesha not to run optimally. One of the systems that was greatly affected was the employee attendance system. Most employees at Undiksha experience problems when taking attendance from home (especially for BDR employees). “The attendance system becomes very slow if accessed using a network outside Undiksha,” said I Ketut Resika Arthana, S.T., M.Kom.

In the meeting, the Chairman of UPT ICT also said that the unstable internet connection in the last few days had caused several systems to not run optimally. He requested that solutions and maintenance be immediately found. In front of the meeting participants present, he also hoped that the bandwidth distribution on the Undiksha Singaraja Campus, Jinengdalem Campus, and Pegok Campus could be designed well by the ICON Network Team.

“Apart from that, ICON’s readiness, especially regarding connections, welcomes the change of semester, where part of the lecture process will likely be carried out face-to-face/offline, as well as the readiness of ICON’s hotspot billing process,” he added.

Before the meeting activities were carried out, regarding problems with the attendance system, attendance system Admin I Nyoman Satria Widnyana, S.Kom. I have checked the program code, compressed it when uploading facial photos, and traced the program code. Meanwhile, Head of Network Division A.A. Gede Yudhi Paramartha, S.Kom., M.Kom. have also checked the system on the server, database, cluster, and related systems, and have carried out the server restart procedure, but the system is still slow when accessed using a network outside Undiksha.

Based on the results of today’s meeting, the ICON network team will immediately check the cloud server in Jakarta and try to further investigate whether the related system (especially attendance) is blocked by the ICON network or not. The ICON Network Team also added that currently, the process of migrating the network topology in Undiksha is underway, as well as testing and implementing the hotspot billing process.

Regarding ICON’s readiness to welcome the change of semester which will be carried out face-to-face/offline, the ICON team is willing to carry out further trials. Meanwhile, regarding bandwidth distribution, the ICON team explained that Undiksha Singaraja received a quota of 300 Mbps, Undiksha Jinengdalem 100 Mbps, and Undiksha Pegok received a quota of 100 Mbps.
