Denpasar- Undiksha continues to encourage efforts to increase the capabilities of the Information and Communication Technology Academic Support Unit (UPA ICT) staff by holding the “Best Practice Information Systems Development” event on Thursday (19/10/2023). This event, which took place at B. Hotel Bali & SPA, Kuta–Bali, became a platform for UPA ICT staff to deepen their knowledge about the latest developments in the world of Information Systems and the best practices that can be applied.
One of the leading speakers at this event was I Putu Buda Suyasa, S.Pd., M.Kom., a Lecturer in Information Systems at Tabanan University and Co-Founder of PT Hooki Global Kreasi. Putu Buda Suyasa provides valuable insight into successful project management in Information Systems development. Apart from that, he also discussed the latest trends in Information Systems development and shared experiences in dealing with challenges that often arise in information technology projects.
The second resource person, I Wayan Adi Sparta, S.Pd., M.Kom., a Full Stack Web Developer at PT Hooki Global Kreasi, introduced the VCS (Version Control System) concept known as git-flow. Gitflow is one of the very popular branching models that helps in setting rules for developing and documenting projects efficiently. Adi also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using Gitflow and provided inspiration for UPA ICT Undiksha to apply it in developing Information Systems within the University environment.
This activity reflects UPA ICT Undiksha’s commitment to ensuring that their staff always have the latest knowledge in the field of information technology. The hope is that this will have a positive impact on improving the quality of the information system used at Ganesha University of Education.
The participants of the “Best Practice” event gave positive feedback on this activity and hoped that there would be similar activities in the future. This is a real step towards developing a better information system and increasing the capabilities of UPA ICT Undiksha staff in facing the challenges of ever-growing information technology.
