Identifying Network Needs, UPT ICT Holds Coordination Meeting

In order to support ICT services in supporting the teaching and learning process, Ganesha University of Education provides Internet services available in the Undiksha Campus area via LAN and Wi-Fi networks. The hotspot service known as “Undiksha Harmoni” can be accessed by all lecturers, students, and staff for free.

In order to improve internet services in the Undiksha environment in 2023, UPT ICT held a coordination meeting by inviting representatives from each Institution, Unit, Faculty, Ormawa, and Undiksha Lab School.

The meeting took place online on Wednesday (2/11) with the agenda of hearing opinions on internet access and identifying network needs in blank spot areas. Blank spots are areas with poor connectivity levels or no internet connectivity at all for communicating using the internet network.

In the discussion that took place during the day, each invitee was informed about services that needed to be optimized, including increasing bandwidth and adding routers in several locations with poor signal coverage.

From the discussions held virtually, in general, the service provided was very good, almost the entire Undiksha environment was covered by the network and could access internet services. Several things need to be improved again by UPT ICT Undiksha together with ICON+ as a collaboration vendor for campus internet services, such as checking the internet on problematic devices at several points, adding fast internet access for “special users” or access for users carrying out online activities who require a stable internet network.

In the future, UPT ICT together with ICON+ will conduct direct surveys of areas that have been reported for direct visits. Maximizing the identification of internet service needs in the Undiksha environment will be a priority, both in the rectorate/institution area, implementing units, faculties, and lab schools under the auspices of Undiksha.
