The Academic Support Unit for Information and Communication Technology (UPA TIK) at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held a technical meeting on Thursday, January 2, 2025, to discuss updates to the attendance system for lecturers and staff. This meeting aims to refine attendance policies to support performance improvement and ensure accountability among academic staff.
During the meeting, several key attendance policies were introduced. Lecturers are now required to be present on campus for at least 60% of total working days per month. This policy seeks to ensure their participation in academic activities, including teaching, student supervision, and the implementation of the tri dharma of higher education. Additionally, administrative staff are mandated to record their attendance daily at their designated workplaces, promoting discipline and efficiency in campus administrative services.
The updates to the attendance system were based on various considerations, one of which is enhancing physical presence on campus. Increased campus presence fosters direct interaction between lecturers, staff, and students, creating a more dynamic academic environment and collaboration. Moreover, this policy aims to optimize administration services, enabling faster and more efficient processes for both students and faculty.
The new system is also designed to strengthen academic performance. With lecturers physically present on campus, activities such as student supervision, research, and community service can be conducted more effectively. Simultaneously, the system facilitates easier monitoring and evaluation of attendance across campus, providing management with transparent and objective data assessment.
The meeting also addressed the technical implementation of a technology-based attendance system. The updated system will record attendance in real time through integrated software linked to designated locations. This system is expected to simplify the attendance process while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
The updated attendance policy will soon be implemented, pending final adjustments to the system by the UPA TIK team. With this initiative, Undiksha strives to improve the quality of education and campus services, further solidifying its reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading universities.
